Welcome to Fifth Grade! • Please place school supplies in the designated areas. • Don’t forget to complete the scavenger hunt located on your desk. • Don’t forget to sign up for fall conferences. • If you have any questions, please feel free to write me a note and leave it in my mailbox.
Goals • To provide you with the academic and social skill opportunities you will need to progress not only to sixth grade, but life. • To provide a supportive and fun classroom learning environment. • To help you make new friends and discover new interests.

Discovery Questions • Purpose: 1- To allow students to find answers to their “Ah-ha” questions they have in school. • 2- To extend and enrich 5th grade standards • 3- To create life-long learners • Benefits: Independent projects across all content areas to support student learning.
Classroom Community • Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other. • Our class rules are: • Be respectful and responsible. • Be organized and follow directions. • Be on time. • Be prepared.

Homework • We will assign about 50 minutes of homework every night. This includes 15-20 minutes of reading. • Please record in planner daily from homework menu, as well as check Edmodo. • Weekly assignments as well as individual assignments. • Students will also be required to complete online journal entries (blogs). • If you need extra time to work on your homework, please contact us in advance.
Tardiness • School starts at 9:05 A.M. • Please check in at the school office before coming to class if you are late. • Please read school policy carefully in regards to vacation, and scheduled/unscheduled absences.
