  4. Ninth Grade • “Ninth Grade is a pivotal year that determines which students will prevail and which students will fail to finish high school.”- Jay Hertzog

  5. Freshman Year Counts • Grades and GPA • 12.0 scale • Grades count and are permanent • Weighted vs. non-weighted grades • No class rank • Official Transcript • Starts day one of 9th grade; colleges will see all grades, all years

  6.   8. Attendance • Notify school by telephone or note • 763-745-6655 • Please send a note with your student vs. calling in • Schedule appointments with school in mind • Six absences per term/per class • Attendance is a responsibility issue

  9. Transportation • At least 80% of freshmen do ride the bus • More than 55% of all WHS students ride the bus • Late bus runs Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at 4:20 p.m. • Transportation contact -763-745-5195

Lunch • Use PIN number • Deposit cash or check in boxes located in floor offices and Culinary Express • Deposits made before 8:00 a.m. will be in account by lunch • On-line deposits • District Food Service Office 763-745-5154 • Students will eat lunch during their 3rd Block class • Link Crew Table set up during the first week

Contacting Your Student During the Day • Cell phone use is regulated • NO CELL PHONE USE IN THE CLASSROOM, LAVS & LOCKER ROOMS!! • 1st offense = warning from the teacher • 2nd offense = Delivered to the office kept for remainder of the day • 3rd offense = Parent must pick it up • Call the floor office • ONLY EMERGENCY MESSAGES WILL BE DELIVERED TO THE CLASSROOM

Dress Code • Headgear of any kind (i.e., hats, caps, bandanas, do-rags, scarves, sweatbands, etc.), may not be worn from the time a student enters the building until dismissal. • Sunglasses worn without a doctor’s order. • Undergarments, including girls’ bra straps and boys’ undergarments must remain covered. • Halter, low cut, off-the-shoulder and see-through tops, those with spaghetti straps plus tank tops and muscle (sleeveless) shirts are not considered appropriate wear for school and need to be covered by an outer garment. • Tops must be long enough to cover a student’s midriff. • Skirts and shorts must be at or below fingertip length when the student’s arm is placed at her side. • Any clothing displaying an inflammatory slogan, derogatory, suggestive or offensive language, or those promoting illegal activities or products (i.e. tobacco, drugs or alcohol) is prohibited.
