This can be achieved through the design of a Product: - Activity centre for visually impaired children Recipe Book USB Data Storage device System: - A training routine for fitness A transport system for a new housing estate A smart phone app Environment: - Environmentally friendly house design Landscape for the local park An animal park
Year 11: - 7 periods per cycle (2 periods theory & 5 periods practical) • 1 case study • 2 Projects (each portfolio has a 30 page limit) • 2014 Project 1 “Data storage protection” • Novelty USB Storage (3D printer) • Phone Sock • Graphical Representation (advertisement) • Production Drawings (technical drawings) • Assessment • 2 projects • 1 case study • 1 test (90 minutes)
Year 12: - 7 periods per cycle (1 periods theory & 6 periods practical) • 1 case study “Innovation” • 1 Project “Student Choice” • 1 portfolio (portfolio has a 80 page limit over 10 months) • Project “Student Choice” • Product • System • Environment • Assessment • Project marked twice (different areas) • 1 case study • 2 tests (90 minutes each)

Answer “YES”in fact they are commonly known to compliment each other (Textiles, Food Technology, Visual Arts etc.) Changes over recent years limiting the portfolio to 80 pages has made this easier to do and less taxing on the student.
