Training plus studies Twice as gooda future!
Competition for talents (1) Data and facts of the labor market • The number of graduates from universities and technical colleges is declining altogether. • The number of students, in particular in technical subjects of the future, is not sufficient for meeting the overall economic demand: there will be a shortage in young talented staff. • The share of the working population will drop considerably in the next ten years. • At the same time, the need for university graduates and the demands to be satisfied by future managers will be rising. • Job advertisements are no longer sufficient when it comes to attracting junior staff: unusual and orginal recruitment initiatives by companies are required.
Competition for talents (2) The situation in the RWE Group and possibilities to attract and keep young talented engineers • A large share of the graduates from technical universities and colleges are recruited by Siemens. • Only very few of the graduates applying for trainee jobs at RWE are engineers. • Contrary to the number of students in engineering courses, the demand for engineers continues to grow altogether. • Problem: Already at the beginning of the main course of studies, other companies conclude "preliminary agreements" with students. • Solution approach at RWE Net: TrainingplusStudies
