  3. Using an Interactive Timeline • What are the purposes of using a timeline? • How can using an interactive timeline be helpful? • How can using an interactive timeline help to better understand historical events? • How can using an interactive timeline help to portray the events of a novel?

  7. Hitler Becomes Chancellor • Who is Hitler in this picture? • What is a “chancellor”? • Where is Berlin? Do you recognize other locations? These are screenshots of the timeline that would be used in class.

  8. Adding a Comment This is where students will add a one sentence comment (fact or question) about the event. Students will need to be logged in under there dipity account that will have already been set up for them. They will be able to post during the lesson which will promote more topics for discussion.

  10. Ready to Read • Find out how Rudi Kaplan’s life was affected by the invasion of Poland. • Read Chapters 1-5 of A Father’s Promise.

Creating Your Personal Timeline • Use www.dipity.com to create your own biographical timeline. • Include significant dates in your life (birth, moving to new places, vacations, broken bones, etc.). • Include significant historical dates that have happened during your lifetime (war, presidents, Olympics, news stories, etc.). • Add a mixture of pictures and videos for each event. • Map each location. • Use the “description” page for narration.
