The Stuttering Home Page A wonderful, personal journey
A few of the mentors and “heroes” that have supported me in many different ways Some I’ve never met in person!
I was discovering tons of resources on the Internet that could enhance my teaching.
Organized them into a gopher site • Net Connections for Communication Disorders and Sciences • Section on various discussion forums I’d found • Section on other gopher sites I’d discovered • Barely mentioned World Wide Web • Made lots of mistakes! • Was amazed at the response I got!
Bob Brooks called me into his office • Wanted me to teach his undergraduate stuttering course • Take over some of his clients who stutter • Looking to retire in a few years and wanted me to consider teaching his stuttering courses
It was clear that I was being asked to take over the responsibilities in the area of stuttering for our program and needed to learn a lot and become current
Signed on to • Stutt-X – Don Mowrer’s list • First question I ever asked online • Stutt-L – Woody Starkweather’s list • Stut-hlp – Bob Quesal’s list
Stuttering Home Page - gopher • Answers to FAQ about stuttering • Suggestions for listeners • PWS speak for themselves • Information on support organizations • Therapy approaches and resources • Articles and handbooks for parents • Short essays about stuttering • Information about the ADA
