Model Based Signal Processing Algorithm for MIDP GPR • GOALS AND OBJECTIVES • A Range Gated Step Frequency Radar (RGSF) is to be used as part • of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program (MEP) for surface and sub- • surface characterization for: • a) Understanding the soil composition and mineralogy • b) Detection of sub-surface ice and water • c) Seismic activity monitoring • We are working towards developing a signal processing algorithm • for the RGSF radar to meet the objectives stated earlier. MATHEMATICAL MODEL • THE CONVENTIONAL SOLUTION • The IFFT of the received and down-converted signal gives the range profile.
