Timeline • Take GRE General Test www.gre.org • Some programs may require a GRE subject test • Application deadlines for Fall will be Jan-March of same calendar year, (even if there isn’t a deadline for application receipt, there may be a deadline for consideration for financial aid • Most programs require a “Statement of Purpose” and/or a research plan, application (incl. fee) and reference letters • Usually notified in March or April (often offers of support require you accept by a deadline)
Funding • You should try to get funding (called a stipend) so you can go to school full-time • Stipends vary from about $15,000-$30,000 • See if you are responsible for paying tuition • Check on health care benefits • NSF Graduate Research Fellowships http://www.nsfgradfellows.org/ Deadline in Nov • NMSU Bridge to the Engr.
