When opportunity knocks? • Your WBL coordinator has set up an potential employment opportunity for you. All you have to do is call the employer to make an appointment for an interview.
What do you do? • Tell the coordinator, “thanks, but I have better things to do after school and on the weekends?” • Choose not to call for the interview, but make 100 excuses for not making the call? • Call the employer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for an interview?
You should: • Call the employer ASAP to schedule an appointment for an interview and an excellent opportunity!
Fred Fickle has failed to show up for two interviews. • Fred Fickle also believes he has "good reasons" for not showing up: • he couldn't find the employer's building. • he didn’t have enough gas to drive to the interview. • he really doesn't want to work at that type of job.
What do you think? • Fred shouldn’t feel bad because stuff happens and he really didn’t want the job! • Fred is accountable for his actions—he has a responsibility to be prepared and on time for appointments that he schedules.
