Pre-Flight Briefing ANSR-78 Team Members • Pima Community College • 11/23/13 • Roger Page • Alex Grebenchtchikov • Robert Hendrickson • Ling Bin Lu • Levi Kerns
Payload 1 Design Process • Spacious while remaining light • Include at least two different sensors • Extra space for insulation • Reduce unnecessary weight from the components • Test all sensors • Test pod and electronics at -50°C
Payload 1 Structure • A simple box shape with plenty of room A large volume while remaining light Leaves plenty of room for insulation
Payload 1 Data Inputs • Temperature: One sensor on the inside • Relative Humidity: one sensor on the outside
Payload 2 Motivation: Side-View Cross Section • Launch a self-contained, self-powered video recording device • Maintain minimum payload rotation by expanding on the use of bearings that were successfully used by the 2012 PCC team • Minimize Weight • View Angle • Maintain safe operational temperature for the iPod Styrofoam Polyester Winter Pants Aluminum Rod Carbon Fiber Fish-Eye Lens Temperature Recording Unit iPod Touch 5th Generation
Payload 2 Design Benefits Model B Model A • Better Structural Integrity • Hemispherical "Bullet Shape • Balanced Rotation • Cylindrical Shape
Payload 2 Testing Results Model A Chosen: • Properly counter-balanced bearing rotation • Stronger Impact Resistance • Higher Resistance to Cold Temperature
Payload 2 Final Product
