The Reverse Listing Key • List 10 examples you can think of when telling the truth might NOT be the right thing to do (or at least the best idea) • If your mum cooked you something and it tastes awful. • When something is private or a secret. • When your friend bought something they really liked, but to you it looked horrible. • Why you didn’t invite them to your party. • Why you didn’t got to their party. • When your planning a surprise party. • When someone is putting them self down because they made a mistake. • When your best friend is friends with your enemy, but you don’t want to tell your best friend, because they’re happy being friends. • When something about your best friend annoys you, you wouldn’t tell your best friend because you wouldn’t want to hurt their feelings. • When someone hasn’t reached their goal, aim or target.
The “What if” Key • What if everyone always told the truth? • If everyone always told the truth then then no one would feel guilty about anything. Everyone could trust each other and doubt no one. On the other hand everyone would be upset because maybe the truth can be upsetting for other people. • Do you think this would make the world a better place to live in? In answering this, give some specific examples of good or bad consequences...
The Disadvantages Key • List as many disadvantages as you can think of for always being truthful. • Secrets would no longer be existent. • People who are sensitive could not handle the truth. • Could hurt people’s feelings. • Could destroy people’s self esteem. • Create fights between, friends, families, countries and many more. • Could lose a best friend • There would be no more friendship groups, as we could not trust each other.
The Picture Key • Can you work out what the creator of this diagram posted on the internet is trying to say about truth and the internet?? • I think the creator of this diagram is trying to tell us that if you put a statement on the internet it will always be true. If you don’t put the statement on the internet then you will be lying, because you are trying to hide from the truth. I think it is also saying that things on the internet is not always the truth, so think for yourself and think to yourself is it true or false.
The Prediction Key • Predict what would happen in your friendship group if everyone always told the truth. • If everyone always told the truth in my friendship group then everyone would be honest and trustworthy. On the other hand we would always have fights and people would want to leave our group, and our group would be smaller/ • Predict what would happen if our community decided truth was no longer important. • If everyone in our community decided that truth was no longer important than our community would be a lie, and everyone would have the opportunity to lie. The young people would copy the older people so if they don’t tell the truth then they won’t tell the truth.
Predict what would happen if parents/teachers no longer taught children to tell the truth. • If parents or teachers didn’t teach their children to tell the truth then they would become spoilt selfish children because they would get away with anything. They would grow up truthless and lying. • Do you think it would come naturally? • I don't think it will come naturally to them because no one taught them to tell the truth and no one would have known that they were lying.
The Inventions Key sweatband information processer (oval shape) light wire
The Inventions Key • The oval is the sweatband. When you ask them questions, they will be nervous about it and will sweat. The wire will pick up the sweat and bring it to the where the light is and will process it into information. Once it is finished it will either light up that means they are lying, but if it doesn’t light up that means they’re not lying.
