  2. Valley • An elongated depression between uplands, hills, or mountains.

  3. Glacier • A glacier is a large, slow-moving river of ice, formed from compacted layers of snow, that slowly deforms and flows in response to gravity and high pressure.

  4. Waterfall A waterfall is a geological formation resulting from water, often in the form of a stream, flowing over an erosion-resistant rock formation that forms a sudden break in elevation.

  5. Tributary • A tributary is a stream or river which flows into a mainstream river, and which does not flow directly into a sea.

  6. Gulf A gulf is a part of an ocean or sea that is enclosed by land.

  7. Oasis A small fertile area in a desert region usually having a spring or well.

  8. Canyon A deep valley with very steep sides

  9. Fjord A deep, steep walled valley formed by erosion by a glacier. It is submerged underwater.

  10. Lagoon A body of water cut off from a larger body by a reef, sand, or coral.

  11. Sea A division of an ocean or a large body of salt water partially enclosed by land.

  12. Sound A large sea or ocean inlet larger than a bay.

  13. Geyser A natural spring marked by the escape of hot water and steam.

  14. Aquifer A group of formations, or part of a formation capable of storing, receiving and transmitting water.

  15. Channel The bed of a stream or waterway.

  16. Suburban The area around a city. Usually residential with some small businesses.

  17. Archipelago a group of many islands in a large body of water

  18. Taiga A moist, subarctic coniferous forest that begins where the tundra ends and is filled with spruces and firs.

  19. Peak The top or summit of a hill or mountain.

  20. Plateau an area of highland, usually consisting of relatively flat terrain.

  21. Strait a narrow channel of the sea joining two larger bodies of water

  22. Marsh low-lying wet land with grassy vegetation

  23. Chaparral A dense, impenetrable thicket of shrubs or dwarf trees.
