  5. What is a pie event? • Pie events are pre-set sales events AGA has advertised and promoted with a complimentary “whole pie to go” for each attendee • These events are generally held in a restaurant setting but can sometimes be held elsewhere • An AGA approved presentation to follow is provided to you

  6. The Pie Presentation • Mock presentation and pointers from your fellow agent

  7. What to take? Below are the items that you need to take with you to all pie events: • Gift cards • Pens • Note pads • Lead cards • Enrollment materials for EACH carrier your event was reported to • Presentation outline • Event checklists • Table cover where applicable • Yard sign for outside event

  8. What to do? • Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to set up • Put out your yard sign in a conspicuous place • Check in with management • Set out pens, note pads, lead cards & brochures • Make sure your enrollment materials are available not to be displayed • Greet those attending at the door - don’t let your RSVP end up at another meeting! • Use your RSVP list to determine the amount of attendees that could show up

  9. Ending the event • Make sure everyone gets their pie • Clean up any materials not taken • Ensure the bill is paid and an appropriate tip (15%) was provided to the wait staff • Remember to collect your yard sign! • Extra pies? Take them to a Senior Center / Doctor’s Office

  10. What next? • Complete lead card & receipt submission forms and return to AGA at the end of each day! • Lead follow up • Do not let more than 3 days pass to follow up with anyone from your event • If they make a phone appointment, be sure to honor that • The early stages of your relationship demonstrate the service you provide

  11. Policies & Forms • Review forms provided in the folder • Policies for Group Presenters to be signed and turned in today.

  12. Things to Know • All AGA Pie Events are submitted to CMS as Informal Sales Events • No projectors for any pie events • The Pie Presentation is on the agent portal • Try not to read the presentation – familiarize yourself with it and make it natural • You can answer plan questions if asked by attendees – you cannot initiate the conversation

  13. Control the direction of your presentation and hold questions until the end • Can do benefit presentations following the meeting – complete a SOA first! • Hof’s Hut & Marie Callender’s – Water is the only beverage choice! • AGA Finance Dept. sends out gift cards based on projections for your next week events • Tips needs to be added to the bill before you hand to the cashier or wait staff for payment with a gift card. Most places cannot charge a tip only to the gift card.

  14. If you invite clients to pie events please make sure to have them call the RSVP line at 1-888-568-1651 • Event staff will be out doing reviews as part of our required oversight by CMS so don’t be concerned if you see us! Note – we are not there to do the presentation for you! • Don’t forget to ask for referrals!!! • Read your emails and return our calls!!

  15. Best practices • Invite clients to attend events – they become your advocate! • Open appointment book and schedule everyone in attendance – appointments set for the call back too! • Let them know that if they have questions about current or future coverage you would be happy to help them – I can’t help you without your permission (get lead card completed) • Have Medicare & You book available to enlist questions that you can answer – Available at www.medicare.gov
