Enzyme Review • Activation Energy-the amount of energy needed to start the reaction. • Catalyst-reduce the amount of activation energy that is needed for a reaction to take place. • An enzyme is a biomolecule that increases the rate of a chemical reaction. • Enzymes are not consumed during a chemical reaction. • Enzymes cause reactions to speed up.
