  1. 2014 WMAHU Member Survey Results

  2. Why are you a member and what are your top 3 key take aways from being a member ? • Education, professionalism, networking • To volunteer and give back to my industry • Build relationships (bonus - some turn into real friendships)!! • Support what NAHU does on my behalf • To continually improve my industry knowledge • The value of information from monthly meetings • Supporting our industry on a local and national level • Meeting speakers/topics, legislative involvement/support, networking • Legislation and lobbying • To support the role of brokers in the delivery of health insurance • Commitment to my professional organization: 1) legislation, 2) networking, 3) community • NAHU is the professional association supporting my career • Resources, relationships & identity • Support our industry • Information, market happenings and events **Thank you for your many comments/suggestions. Being a part of your professional association, regardless of being an agent or a carrier representative sets you apart from the rest….and for only $32.50 a month!! As you all know, we do much more than deliver health insurance – we are truly employee benefit consultants and are partners with our clients improving their ability to meet the health, financial and retirement security needs of their employees. We advocate for our clients and each other!! We deliver resources to promote excellence and again WE are the preeminent organization !!** THANK YOU FOR BEING A MEMBER OF WMAHU / MAHU / NAHU

  3. Do you understand the role media relations plays in today's environment? • Of the 18 people who responded, the answer is a resounding YES!! **This is a great response – I trust you are all communicating the role of the agent /carrier representative and what we, WMAHU members, are doing for our industry!! IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!**

  4. WMAHU is considering hosting half to full day NAHU certification classes for PPACA, Wellness, Consumer Directed HealthCare, etc. Would you have interest? • Many of you are interested • Mark your calendars for January 19, 2015 – More info coming soon!! • Course: Becoming a Licensed Accident & Health Insurance Counselor **Jeff Werner, (AFLAC Broker Development Coordinator) has coordinated the AHIC Course scheduled or 1/19/15 – with the interest we have received watch for more to come. Thank you!!**

  5. Have you used the compliance services offered as part of your membership? • Some yes and some no – this is a HUGE benefit to all NAHU members. If you have questions or need help finding the compliance site - give a board member a call!! • You are missing out! **Each month at our local meetings we have slides that highlight the NAHU Compliance Corner which is a member only benefit!! As a WMAHU/NAHU member you can email legislative@nahu.org ANY compliance related question and receive an answer within 48 hours. Again, please reach out to a WMAHU BoT member with questions.

  6. Do you feel that current recipients of the WMAHU fundraising initiatives are in line with WMAHU`s Mission Statement? • Ottawa and Muskegon County programs • I like smaller charities so that our gift can make a bigger difference. I believe they should be health related. • I don`t know or see what WMAHU`s mission statement is. Under Mission, you have NAHU`s mission statement. What is WMAHU`s mission statement? • Helen DeVos Children`s Hospital. VanAndel Institute. **Howard Lancaster of Professional Benefits Services, our Events/Expo co-Chair, along with the WMAHU BoT, has and will continue to raise awareness and $$ for our selected charities. Great ideas and thank you for the comments.**

  7. What do you find valuable about Expo? Is the day too long, too short? • Speakers, CE classes • Informative speakers, networking, carrier interaction/education, CE. • Product updates; networking. The day is just right. • I believe it to be just fine. • Needs to change and be totally something different. It`s been generally the same for too many years and seems to have lost its impact. • Speaker sessions, broker and carrier exposure. • The Expo is valuable but needs to be reworked each year to provide interesting topics and a draw to those who have been continuous supporters. • Too long • Cocktail hour • Networking and seeing new offerings from exhibitors • One place to find information & contacts all in same day. Always hope to bring home a new idea, reconnect with a peer or win a prize. **Great feedback and Amy Kelly of BCBSM, WMAHU Expo Chair has and will continue to provide a great day. For those of us who are in the trenches everyday with our clients and the ACA, we realize the ever-changing scope of what we do. Amy has and is doing a great job!! Please keep in mind – this is a come and go as you please day so stop for an hour or stay all day – its up to you!!**

  8. Do you utilize the WMAHU website and if so, why? • Monthly meetings and periodic updates • Political information • Don`t know what`s on there • No reason to go there • Very little content that is useful • Find an agent, legislation updates, current topics in D.C. and states • Never took the time **Please see comments next slide**

  9. What content would like to to see on the WMAHU website? • Board members, meeting dates, member meeting dates, charity efforts, reports on what NAHU & MAHU are doing on our behalf, feedback from Cap Con & Convention so that general membership can learn what happens there...get them motivated to participate. • Compliance - Legislative events in our industry - chat room like NAHU has.... • Professional updates - what agent’s gone where, started their own agency, etc. • More frequently updated events & meetings info. • More frequently updated events & meetings info; e.g., the date for Expo is established already but not on the web page. Last year I couldn`t find golf outing info. If I could at least rely on the calendar, I`d likely put a little more confidence in using the site. **Thank you for your comments. You will be happy to know our Website & Technology Chair, Tammy Healey of Principal Financial Group, has made many improvements to our site that address most of your requests. Take a look when you have time and check back often!!**

  10. Would you be interested in serving on a committee? • Golf • Programs, Awards, Professional Development • Professional Development • Public Service/Fundraising **Thank you for your interest in volunteering your time serving on a committee.
