Course Syllabus Course Number and Title: PSY 2003 General Psychology Meeting Times and Location: MWF 9-9:50 am UC 214 Course Description: This course is an overview of major topics in modern psychology, the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. As a first course in the discipline of psychology, it introduces some of the fundamental concepts, principles, and theories with a consideration for the complexity of human behavior. Attendance • A student will be dropped from a full-semester course if they are failing upon • 7th absence in MWF class • 5th absence in TR class • 3rd absence in one week class • How much time will school take? 15 credit hours x 2 30 +15 hours in the classroom 45 hours per week

Campus Courtesy At Doors • If you see someone carrying boxes or other bulky items, ask if there is a door you can open. • Always ask a person who is struggling with the door (e.g., someone using a wheelchair) if you may help. Around Campus • Say hello to people you meet. • Say “Excuse me” rather than pushing past people in a crowd or a constricted space. • No gum on the sidewalk, in the grass, on the parking lot—period.
More Campus Courtesy In class Personal Issues • Be polite in your speech and manners. • Blowing bubbles, snapping, or otherwise playing with gum is not ok. • Sleeping and snoring in class just should not be done. • Remember the class is not so large you can become invisible, so watch your body language. • Do not start packing your bag until class is completely over.
Last Bit on Courtesy In Class Computers & Cell Phones • Always put your cell phone on silence or turn it off during class. • No texting in class—ever. • No checking email, Facebook or MySpace. In conversation • Do not interrupt someone while they are talking, no matter how insightful you think what you have to say is. • Please, please…no cell phone conversations in the restrooms!
