2. DAUGHTERS OF FOUNDERS AND PATRIOTS • Julia Frances Deeley Pohl joined the Society on descent from Thomas Olcott, 1613-ca.1653. He was a founder of Hartford. • Julia’s Patriot ancestor was Joseph Olcott, 1736-1823. He fought at the Battle of Bennington.

3. DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION • Julia Frances Deeley Pohl joined the DAR on descent from Captain Eliphalet Curtis. He was a lieutenant at the Siege of Boston and at the Battle of Ticonderoga. He then became a captain in the 18th Militia in 1778. • Julia’s registration is 488008.

4. SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION • George joined the SAR on descent from Peter Slone (Sloane) – • National number is 9574

5. THE DUTCH SETTLERS SOCIETY OF ALBANY • George joined the Dutch Settlers on descent from Jan Martense van Alsteyn – • He joined in June 1965

6. SOCIETY OF MAYFLOWER DESCENDANTS • George joined the Mayflower Descendants on descent from passenger John Billington. • His National number is 33824, and his Vermont number is 654.

7. BARONIAL ORDER OF MAGNA CHARTA • George joined the Order on descent from Saer de Quincy, Earl of Winchester, who signed the Magna Charta at Runnymede in 1215. • George’s membership number is 952. • This portrayal is of King John with the barons at Runnymede.

8. CHARLEMAGNE The Order of the Crown of Charlemagne is an international society which accepts persons who can provide a generation-by-generayion descent from the Emperor Charlemagne. Karl der Grosse (Charlemagne) lived 747 – 814. By inheritance, he became King of the Franks in 768. His armies conquered most of modern-day Germany, northern Italy, and added what is now Southern France to his Frankish domains. He was crowned Emperor in 800 at Rome. He was truly the Emperor of the West. George Pohl has made two concerted attempts to join the Order, but was rejected both times. The rules for application state that a rejected application be accompanied by a description of the fault(s) detected by the Registrar-General. No documentation was ever received.
