ICT RG 2011 Work plan • Provide direct country-level support • Revise the ICT scale-up implementation plan • Support ITAG’s Data Communications initiative • Promote Guidelines for DaO in ICT • Capacity building • Operations Management Skills training • Collaborate with other Task Teams & HLCM Networks

Supporting Country level Business Needs • Missions to Malawi, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Zambia & Vietnam • Assessment of existing resources, connectivity and infrastructure • Met with all agencies’ country management teams and RC and identified business needs: • Collaboration and information sharing • Mobility • High-speed connectivity • Business continuity • Reduction in telephony costs

  4. Post-Missions Follow-up • Technical recommendations provided to address each business need • High-level budget requirements given • Preliminary implementation plan is developed • Next steps determined by local ICT WG assuming budgetary constraints are addressed

  5. Revised ICT Scale-up proposal • Focus on use of field technical capacity • Led by one Project Manager supported by local specialists • 18 months pilot phase with evaluation after 12 months • Responsible for support to UNCT DaO initiatives (creation of business cases and conducting assessments) • 2012-2013 staff costs(P5) $125,000 + $250,000 • Travel and equipment costs are additional

Data Comms Initiative • List of countries finalized (20) • Business case template finalized • Letter to be sent by UNDOCO for endorsement • Countries will be invited to complete a business case for consideration by ICT RG • ICT RG will select a few Countries to pursue implementation of standard Data Comms project based on budget availability

Requirements for DaO in ICT • Endorsement of ICT Scale-up implementation plan • Funding for ICT Scale-up implementation plan • Resources for • Lessons Learned exercise including cost efficiency and ROI models • Independent Evaluation of DaO in ICT methodology/approach and the ICT RG • Advocacy/Communication via newsletters
