Welcome To CriczonesCricketService IPL 2017: JosButtler, NitishRana Shine as Mumbai Indians Thrash Kings XI Punjab By 8 Wickets Mumbai Indians (MI) thumped Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 8 wickets in chase of 199 in the 22nd match of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday. Parthiv Patel and JosButtler's fiery start suggested that Mumbai Indians had come to the field with their hunting mode on. Not letting the Punjab bowlers settle a bit, Parthiv and Buttler went berserk from the very first ball and kept the required run rate in check. Though Parthiv fell for 37, Buttler kept on hitting the ball cleanly for Mumbai. Adding salt to the wounds, NitishRana, too, smashed a 34-ball 62 not-out to help Mumbai overhaul the competitive target rather easily.
Bringing up his half century, NitishRana reclaimed his orange cap as Mumbai sit atop of the IPL points table with 10 points. With five consecutive wins, Mumbai is riding high on confidence as, it seems, they are on a rampaging mode. Tough luck for KXIP and HashimAmla who helped Punjab to put a good total on the board. Courtesy of Rana and Buttler, Holkar stadium saw a brilliant display of fireworks. After their fourth consecutive loss, KXIP stand fifth on the table with four points. JosButtler was adjudged the Man of the Match. JosButtler went on a rampage with a breathtaking 37-ball-77 as Mumbai Indians cantered home by eight wickets against Kings XI Punjab maintaining their pole position in the Indian Premier League, here on Thursday. HashimAmla's superb 103 enabled Punjab put up a competitive 198 for 4 in 20 overs but Buttler made a mockery of the target with Mumbai Indians knocking off the runs in only 15.3 overs. If Amla was sublime, Buttler's power-packed shots were scary as he hit seven fours and five sixes, completely overshadowing the effort from the illustrious South African.
The talented NitishRana (62 no off 34 balls) was equally exhilarating as he also sent the Kings XI bowlers on a leatherhunt hitting as many as seven sixes. The Buttler-Rana stand got MI 85 runs in less than 8 overs. Rana got the 'Purple Cap' back and finished the match with a six off Mohit Sharma. Mumbai now have 10 points from six games having won five matches in a row while KXIP slumped to their fourth defeat. Chasing a near 200-target needed a mandatory good start and JosButtler was finally up for it as he punished the two 'Sharmas' -- Ishant and Sandeep with equal disdain.
