The 2014-2015 Calendar and Schedules Committee presents proposals for changes in the academic summer calendar. Consensus has been reached among all committee members.

Selected Guidelines considered for Calendars • Calendars for Fall/Spring Semesters 70 – 73 days • Calendars for Full Summer Term 48 – 49 days • 7-10 days between semesters • Graduation on the preferred day of Saturday for Fall and Summer • Graduation on the preferred days of Saturday and Sunday for Spring • 5 days for Finals for Fall and Spring • 2 reading days after classes end for Fall and Spring • At least 1 reading day for each Mini-term and Full term in Summers • Fall Break will be two days unless 72 semester days aren’t available thenFall Break will be 1 day

  6. The Change • Will return a reading day to Summer Mini-Semester 1 • Will return second reading day to Summer Mini-Semester 2 • Will increase the Registrar’s office the days between Spring and Summer

University Senate Calendar and Schedules Committee Proposed CALENDAR Academic Year August 2017 - August 2018 Fall 2017 Semester Term (73 days) Fall Semester 2017 Aug. 18 Classes Begin (FRI) Sept. 4 Labor Day (MON) Sept. 8 (15th Class Day) (FRI) • Last day to withdraw from a course with no grade assignment. • Last day for potential tuition refund for dropped classes. Oct. 9 Mid-Semester (36th Class Day) (MON) • Last day to withdraw from a course with no grade penalty. “W” assigned • Student deadline for request to move finals Oct. 18 (41st Class Day) (WED) • Student deadline for request to move finals to Associate Deans Oct. 12, 13 Fall Break (THUR-FRI) Nov. 20-24 Thanksgiving Break (MON-FRI) Dec. 8 Classes End (FRI) Dec. 9, 10 Study/Reading Days (SAT, SUN) Dec. 11-15 Final Exam Period (MON-FRI) Dec. 16 Commencement (SAT) Explanation: 73 class days 13 complete weeks, 1 TUES-FRI week, 1 MON-THUR week, 1 FRI week 5 days for exams
