  2. Production Thoughts • Show planning: consider Google Docs • If interviewing someone, have background notes on the interviewee along with photo, links and possible interview questions • Facilitates collaboration (multi-person show) • Provides permanent archive of each show content

  3. Promotion/Distribution Thoughts • iTunes • Podcast directories • Email signature • Blog (custom URL) • Facebook page • Twitter account • MySpace (?) • Google Words • Press release (egprweb.com, pr.com) • Ask listeners for ideas for shows

  4. Tracking Your Podcast • Downloads • Comments • Use Google Alerts • Use Twitter Search • Use 3rd party tool like FeedBurner

  5. Real World Warnings • Underestimating resources needed to maintain content creation (the main reason y’all have to do an individual podcast!) • Forgetting to make a business case (It’s cool! Everybody’s doing it!)

  6. Blog Thoughts • Blog posts give each episode its own landing page • Widgetbox: enliven your blog (if you can install widgets) • Technorati listing • Delicious – use+widget

One post/group as comment on this week’s blog post • Identify keywords appropriate for group project content. Play with tools. One post/group as comment on this week’s blog post

  9. For Next Week: No Class, But… • Find two examples of show notes – one exemplary, one that could use some work. Explain your reasoning. Post by 6 pm Tuesday. • Draft show notes for your personal podcast; post by 6 pm Tuesday. • Draft show notes for your group project; post by 6 pm Tuesday.
