ACS International Relay For Life • The ACS International Relay For Life (IRFL) Program is a training and technical assistance program that guides and supports licensed Relay organizations. • ACS licenses Relay For Life (RFL) to cancer control organizations who share our mission. • The first RFL license was issued to Cancer Research UK in 1995.
ACS International Relay For Life • The goal of licensing RFL is to provide cancer control organizations with an evidence-based means to: • raise awareness about cancer & prevention • raise awareness about the NGO’s programs • raise awareness about survivorship • increase the NGO’s volunteer base • raise unrestricted funds for the organization
2009 “Relay Countries” Australia Ireland Portugal Brazil Jamaica So Africa Canada Japan Taiwan Denmark Luxembourg UK France Malaysia US Germany The Netherlands Guatemala New Zealand Honduras Philippines
Rules of Engagement • Outside of the US, teams are invited to register with and raise funds for the local licensed Relay organization as part of the international Relay movement. • To become a part of the National Corporate Team Program (NCTP) requires a corporate commitment of 50 US-based teams, a volunteer leader and internal promotion. Only US-based team numbers and funds raised will count toward that NCTP team commitment.
Your Company Can Become Part of the Global Relay Movement • … just Three Simple Steps
Go to www.relayforlife.org/relay/inctp • Three pages where companies can: • Learn more about IRFL • Find a Relay near them • Take a short survey that will allow them to track their teams
Step One • Invite your corporate employees based abroad to: • Visit www.relayforlife.org/relay/inctp • Follow steps
Step Two • On NCTP – International Offices Page… • Click on the box to “Find Event” to view event dates and for links to licensed RFL organizations • Click on the box “Complete Survey” to submit details about your team or to request more details about an event • ….In that survey, corporate employees identify the country where they are located from a drop down menu • ...The survey will be sent in an email to the Relay organization in that country. They will respond directly to the employee within two weeks. (Redundancy is built in)
Step Three • Employees must register their team with the local licensed Relay organization in their country. • NOTE: Employees cannot register through ACS or www.relayforlife.org
Who Can Participate • Any company can locate and participate in international RFL events and can encourage their employees to do so. • However, for 2009 we are piloting full utilization with National Corporate Team Program companies.. • Only NCTP companies will find their name in a drop down menu of the survey. Non-NCTP companies can check “other” and write in their company name. We will share that information with you. • Only NCTP companies will find a pre-populated place to record international teams. • We will consider expansion in 2010.
How to Help Your Company Match Their Sites with RFL Events • The best way is to simply share the website with your company www.relayforlife.org/relay/inctp • The pages for NCTP international offices will provide a direct links to licensed Relay organizations who organize events in each country • Only the local Relayer will know how close the events are to their location, you or your US corporate leader will not have that information
Reports At the end of each month, NCTP Corporate Leads, NWDs, and individual account managers will receive a report showing teams that submitted their information using the survey. There may be other teams that companies learn about, you can direct NCTP leads to ask teams to complete and submit the survey.
