Question 1 • Are you reliant on NWS products for weather planning / decision making? • Answer - Absolutely
Question 2 • What is the best method of getting data from the vessel to NOAA? • Answer – At this time Inmarsat C and email are probably the most widely used and cheapest, but that will change as marine Broadband becomes more cost effective.
Question 3 • AMVERSEAS vs. Turbowin • I have never used Turbowin so I can’t compare the two products
Question 4 • Products Requests and Capabilities: • Better long range forecasts out to 7 days • 96 hour forecast map should be available twice daily • Simpler email string for Hurricane Forecast discussion text via email
Question 4 • Products Requests and Capabilities: • Current Email request capability is extremely useful. Would also like the option to “sign up” for specific maps and text messages that we would like to receive on a reocuring basis • Work more closely with Maritime Academies and Training Schools
