  3. What does it mean to be a Title I School? • Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for… • Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these students meet the State’s challenging content standards. • Purchasing supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies • Conducting parental involvement meetings/trainings/activities • Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Qualified Teachers

What is the ACIP? • The ACIP is our school’s Annual Continuous Improvement Plan and includes: • A Needs Assessment and Summary of Data • Goals and Strategies to Address Academic Needs of Students • Professional Development Needs • Coordination of Resources/Comprehensive Budget • The School’s Parental Involvement Plan • Input from Faculty and Parents • We encourage parentsto be involved in the development of this plan. Please let me know if you would like to be on this committee

  13. CIP Goals 2018-2019 • Each year we select goals for our students to better increase our academic rigor Goal #1 Improve proficiency in reading Goal #2 Improve math proficiency Goal #3 Improve school attendance by increasing student engagement

What is the School-Parent Compact? • The compact is a commitment from the school, the parent, and the student to share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement • Kept in T.I.G.E.R. Book or Student Binder • Revised Yearly in the Spring with a Group of Parents - Let me know if you would like to serve on this committee. • School-Parent Compact will be sent home with you today when you visit your child’s classroom. • Make sure you and your child read it before signing it.

  18. Secrets to a Great Year • Have your child here on time everyday. • Check bookbags, planners, T.I.G.E.R. books, and planners. • Ask about homework. It lets you know what kids are doing in class. • Monitor your child’s progress through: INOW Parent Portal, Friday Folders, Progress Reports, Report Cards • Sign everything sent home and return it promptly. • Keep in touch with the teacher through notes, email, phone, Remind, and conferences. • Get involved - Volunteer, join PTO, Have lunch
