EPA / Clean Water Act Requirements: • Section 305(b): Describe water quality management programs and report the status of surface water quality statewide. • Section 303(d): Assess the quality of waters and list those not meeting water quality standards as impaired. • Section 319: Identify Non-Point Source (NPS) problems and implement remediation plans

Assessment Techniques • AQUATIC LIFE USE: • Flowing waters- Assess aquatic habitat and invertebrate community • or fishery • Lakes- Assess fish and aquatic plant communities • WATER SUPPLY USE: • Assess bacteriological and/or chemical quality of untreated • intake water at public water supplies • RECREATION & FISH CONSUMPTION: • Assess bacteriological quality of waters, especially at bathing beaches • Assess chemical quality of edible portions (fillets) of fish • SPECIAL PROTECTION: • Assess physical habitat and aquatic invertebrate community
