  3. What skills do children need? • Know letter sounds –pure sounds • Blend sounds together to make Green words • Read sight words (Red words)

  4. Phonics Lesson • Speed Sounds • Introduce a New Sound • Blending Green Words with Fred • Red Word Flashcards

  5. At Home • Non-Word Book– lots of discussion about story structure, characters and settings

  6. At Home • Sound Game – matching sounds and pictures.

  7. At Home • Blending Game – blending the sounds, say the word and find the picture.

  8. At Home • Blending List – say each sound, blend then together and say the word. mad dog sad log dad fog mat pot sat got sampam

  9. At Home • Book with Words - say each sound, blend then together and say the word. Continue to talk about story structure, characters and settings.

  10. Book with key words - use knowledge of key words and blending skills to read the text. The picture will help too!
