Member Introductions • As one large group or split in to small groups • Name, class year, major, and what you think of ALD or your vision for the organization
Goal of Alpha Lambda Delta • Encourage superior academic achievement among students in their first year, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, as well as to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society.
Membership • All students that join Alpha Lambda Delta, through invitation, are lifetime members of Alpha Lambda Delta. However, active membership qualifies members for scholarships and to hold leadership roles within the local chapter.
Active Membership (3,2,1) • Complete 3 community service hours (provided by ALD) • Attend 2 ALD general body meetings • Attend 1 Event (informed about by ALD) (Active membership status is reviewed each semester.)
Officer Applications- all positions Duties of all officers: • To serve as an officer for Alpha Lambda Delta-University of Arkansas Chapter and work to facilitate the objectives of the honor society as outlined by New Student & Family Programs, National Alpha Lambda Delta, and/or the Office of Student Activities-Registered Student Organizations. • Officers will work with the Alpha Lambda Delta-University of Arkansas Chapter and additional university departments. All officers will help with all organizational activities throughout the designated term.
Officer Applications • PRESIDENT • Communicate with advisors • Organize and work with officers • Manage the organization and documentation • VICE PRESIDENT • Assist president • Work with other officers • Oversee events and ensure success of events • COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER • Plan community service events • Keep track of member community service hours
Officer Applications • COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER • A combination of Secretary and Historian/Editor • Manage listserv and handle correspondence • Keep records of membership status, attendance, meeting minutes, etc. • Take pictures/record events • Publicity (newsletter editor, etc.) • TREASURER • Keep track of money and write checks for national dues, etc. • Keep track of membership fees and payment status • Collaborate with president about transactions and expenses of the organization
Scholarship applications • Level I Scholarships • Current freshman and sophomore students • Level II Scholarships • Current junior and senior students To apply for scholarships, you must be considered an ACTIVE member of ALD. All Scholarship Applications are due to NSFP office (ARKU A688) by noon on April 9, 2014.
For any events you attend or community service that you do, you must: email ALD informing of what you attended/volunteered for (submit proof: contact information for someone who can verify your attendance/volunteering and a picture of you there, a ticket stub, or something that would prove you were there/attended.
Due Dates • All Scholarship Applications and Officer Applications are due to NSFP office (ARKU A688) by noon on April 9, 2014. • All Community service hours and event attendance must be submitted by April 16, 2014 at noon.
