Vascular system is made up of arteries, veins, arterioles, and capillaries • The vascular system primary purpose is to transport oxygenated blood to all cells of the body and to collect waste products (CO2) to release by the lungs • The aorta is the major artery of the body, its major branches include: • The brachiochepalic trunk (divides into right carotid and subclavian) that feed the head and right arm • The left carotid and left subclavian arteries feed the head and left arm • The celiac truck (gastric, hepatic, splenic) • The mesenteric arteries that feed the gut • The renal arteries that provide blood flow to the kidneys • The iliac arteries that take blood to the legs further dividing into the femoral, popliteal, and tibial arteries • The vena cava is the major vein of the body and has branches that match the arteries of the body
