2. Introducing…..EAB!! • Science name is Agrilus Planipennis, Emerald ash borer is its more commonplace name • Kingdom- Animalia • Phylum- arthropoda • Class- insecta

3. Arrival of the beetle • Discovered in southeastern Michigan, in 2002 • Theoretically, its from Asia. • It can be found in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Quebec, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin

4. What does it do to the people? • Mainly, these beetles attack ash trees, and trees produce oxygen for us to breathe and trees are a major natural resource • Humans also use the wood for lumber and fire wood

5. How about the ecosystem? • A MAJOR loss of ash trees • The only organisms affected are humans, and Ash trees.

7. Mission Accomplished • Its reason for success is that there are so many neighboring states that produce and possess Ash trees.

8. The future plan • They are using pesticides, conducting quarantines, and major studies of this beetle are taking place.
