Why GOLD? • GOLD targets members who have recently entered the workforce • Programs are geared to highlight needs typical to this affinity group • Assist young members in their transition between academic and professional life • Increase retention of recent graduates and their participation in IEEE

Forming a GOLD Affinity Group • Select GOLD Section Chair • Plan initial 'kick-off' event • Request QSIF money • Obtain 6 signatures • Submit Affinity Group application formwww.ieee.org/organizations/rab/scs/forms_petitions/afform.html • Have fun!
GOLD Activities • What Should our Program Do? • Hold at least 2 non-technical programs/year • Work with PACE, Educational Activities, Student Branches and other Chairs to coordinate programs • Have Fun! • Who Should Attend our Programs? • Everyone! Although GOLD is tailored toward the recent graduate, but don’t check ID’s!
GOLDMentoring • Section Mentors/Industry Liaisons • Act as Advisor to a GOLD Member or Committee • Encourage a GOLD co-worker to get Involved • Provide opportunities for Networking and Education
Summary • GOLD is young and growing • GOLD-oriented programs add value by attracting another group of volunteers to participate • GOLD programs can be the training ground for the next generation of IEEE leaders
