2005 Delta Forum Topic Building the U.S. Aerospace Industry for 2025, One Person at a Time • Objectives: • To identify significant issues on this topic • To inform and educate the AIAA Membership on pertinent issues relating to this topic • To provide the AIAA Membership with several perspectives on this topic • One from the major Technical Committees • To compare and contrast perspectives for a more in-depth exploration of the topic • To provide AIAA membership with information or to identify actions that member corporations will address in the next few years • To share experiences and lessons learned to aid the industry as a whole to be better prepared to in responding to changes
Objectives • Objectives: • Examines workforce issues for: • Current aerospace employees • Entry level employees • Mature employees • Future employee development and retention • Emphasizes the relationship between technical aspects to management concepts • From Societal, Economic, Technical, and Managerial perspectives
What is the Delta Forum? • The purpose for the Delta Forum is for the TCs of TAC to come together to explore a common theme or issue relevant to the AIAA membership • Each AIAA Committee or TC is welcome to participate • Each TC may have ~30 minutes to present and answer a few questions • A 20 minute presentation on issues from the perspective of the specific TC discipline is welcome • The presentation should consist of between 10 and 15 charts (using this presentation as a format) • Add color or animation as appropriate • Other innovative presentation/discussion formats are welcome as long as they inform our membership • This year we have included perspectives from other parts of AIAA • These are meant to: • Provide a robust perspective from across AIAA • Augment our TCs participation
Developing the Aerospace workforce for 2025 • Development of the new generation workforce of highly skilled and professional Aerospace individuals is essential for our society, industry and profession • Workforce development has a multitude of issues that need to be addressed nearly simultaneously • Many are complex and intertwined • There are many ways to begin • There is no one clear solution
