  3. Dred Scott vs. Sanford 1857 • Slaves had no standing in court because they were not citizens(which meant they could not sue)

  4. Plessey V. Ferguson (1896) • Set up the separate but equal doctrine

  5. Worchester vs. Ga • Supreme court said Andrew Jackson could not remove Cherokee Indians from Ga. • Jackson defied the Supreme Court and removed natives • Caused the trail of tears

  6. Brown vs Board of Education of Topeka 1954 • Integrated the public school system • overturned Plessey v. Ferguson

  7. Mappvsohio 1961 • Evidence seized illegally cannot be used in a court of law

  8. Gideon vs Wainwright 1963 • A right to a court appointed attorney for free Clearance Gideon

  9. Miranda vs. Arizona 1963 • Must be informed of all your rights

  10. Tinkerv. Des Moines (1969) • Students are entitled for freedom of symbolic speech in certain situations.

  11. Roe V. Wade 1973 • Woman's right to privacy • Legalized abortion

  12. Engel v. Vitale 1962 • Outlawed school led prayer

  13. Bush V. Gore (2000) • Found that the manual recount of the disputed election in Florida violated the 14th amendment (equal protection clause) • The election was certified and George W. Bush won the election by winning Florida
