  2. Pythagoras • Greek mathematician performed experiments to determine the notes using the length and thickness of the strings of this instrument.

  3. Flutes • The myth surrounding the flute: Athena made the flute but threw it away as it “made the face ugly”. • While wind instruments were still played in Greek music, this myth lead to the preference of stringed instruments
