  1. ITU-T Workshop 23 November 2002 onUse of Description Techniques By Arve Meisingset Study Group 17 Vice chairman

  2. Purpose The objective of the workshop is to determine needs for improvements to the description techniques for various application domains. The presentations of experiences from use of individual ITU description techniques and of combined use of description techniques are the basis for determining needs. The presentations also provide an opportunity to compare and contrast different approaches.

  3. Contributions The workshop is seeking contributions from the following domains: * Usage experiences on the applicability of individual description techniques * Usage experiences on the combined use of description techniques * Experiences from learning and introductory use of description techniques * Different needs for informal and formal use of the description techniques * Needs for extending or focusing the scope of ITU description techniques * Experiences from toolsupport and identification of needs for improvements (?) * Experiences from and needs for support, such as consultancy, teaching, and marketing (?) * Needs for co-ordination with non-ITU description techniques

  4. Context May contribute to project on co-ordination of use of the description techniques Key results may be labelled - Unified Language Family (ulf) - Telecommunication Interoperation Language Environment (tile)
