What is The NYS Forum? • The NYS Forum is a membership organization whose mission is to enable communication and collaboration between the IT public and private sectors in a neutral, non-biased environment. • The goal of this collaboration is to facilitate effective and efficient implementations of technology strategies and solutions for the benefit of government. • This goal is accomplished by: • Providing peer developed educational opportunities • Seminar presentations • Furnishing the resources for work groups to form and function • Collaboration with the private IT sector The Forum has been identified as a nationally unique Public/Private Knowledge Space
History of The NYS Forum • Organizational Background: • 24 years ago began as a grassroots IT organization formed by NYS employees involved with technology • Originally founded as part of the SUNY Research Foundation • The Forum became an independent Not-for-Profit entity in 2008 • In 2001, the IT Corporate Roundtable (IT CR) was formed to provide knowledge share assistance to the NYS Forum membership • Governance: • The NYS Forum Corporate Board is comprised of elected Public sector members and the Chair of the IT Corporate Roundtable
The NYS Forum Membership • State & Local Government IT Professionals at all levels • Public sector membership of more than 5,000 IT professionals • State & Local Government Organizations • Over 100 state and local government organizations • IT Corporate Roundtable –Corporations Providing IT Goods & Services to the Public Sector • 74 IT CR members - 34 are WBE, MBE or SBE Organizations • 7 charter members in 2001 • IT CR Members hold NYS OGS Technology, Services and Telecom Contracts
IT Corporate Roundtable Purpose • To provide a productive context for IT corporations focused on governmentto pursue proactive communications and initiatives targeted at improved mutual understandings in regard to Information Technology solutions. • IT Corporate Roundtable members are held to high standards of vendor neutral behavior in their interactions with The NYS Forum membership (Leave the Logos at the door!)
IT Corporate Roundtable Member Activities • Attend IT CR and Executive Council monthly meetings • Participate in Work Groups as a group member and co-chair • Assist in the planning and execution of Forum Events • Opportunity to provide Subject Matter Experts for Forum Events • Monthly Meetings • IT CR Meetings 10 a year • Executive Council 10 a year • Work group 10 a year • Events average of 20 a year

The MetroNY Initiative • 2008 • Setting the stage – addressing ethics, lobbying, procurement issues • June & August Meetings / events in partnership with NYC DoITT • NYC CIO was added to Forum’s Executive Council • 2009 • MetroNY official kickoff with Cloud Computing, co-hosted by NYC DoITT • 2010 • IT CR Member meeting and networking event • Cloud Computing event with support of NYC DoITT, featuring CIO of NASA
