Research Paradigm • Since perishable foods items are mostly prone to food-borne pathogens therefore the main emphasis of this project is to monitor the temperature of these items while they are in transit. • RFID is a technology which has been available for more than fifty years, could be used for this purpose and that supports quantitative research method. • This project deals with designing a software prototype for a RFID Middleware for monitoring temperature data of perishable foods items. • The project includes RFID Readers with the RFID Middleware that would interact with RFID based sensor tags. The software prototype is designed to perform several tasks like user authentication, data archiving etc
Testing RFID Tag Developed Visual C# Module 2 Developed Visual C# Module 1 Developed Visual C# Module 3
Software Development • Developing database model • Developing user interface/front end screens • Communication with tags, RFID reader and temperature sensor • Creating website • Periodically uploading real time temperature data to website
Users Functions • Add/Edit/View User Information • Add/Edit/View Truck Information • Prepare/View Shipment • Start Real Time Temperature Data Tracking • Stop Real Time Temperature Data Tracking • Receive Shipment • Administrator • Prepare/View Shipment • Start Real Time Temperature Data Tracking • Sender • Stop Real Time Temperature Data Tracking • Receive Shipment • Receiver
Conclusion • Successful integration of RFID reader, tag and temperature sensor • Successful development of user interface/front end screens • Development of database model • Creating website • Periodically uploading real time temperature data to website
