Matthew Cockerham Pervious Parking lot
Truck Traffic • The trash truck has to turn on the pavement. • Concrete paving was installed where the truck turns.
Traffic Circle • The traffic circle is constructed out of asphalt. • A flush concrete curb was installed to separate the flexible and rigid pavements.
Limited Site Access • Site was soft and muddy. • The concrete trucks tires would have contaminated the clean stone. • All of the concrete was placed with wheelbarrows.
Cold Weather • Placement was in December. • Standard cold weather practices applied.
Clogging • Sheet flow across the conventional pavement is carrying contaminants. • Roof drains are discharging through the face of the curb.
Excavating • The light pole bases were close to the pavement.
Saturated Pavement • The last parking stalls hold water in the pavement. • There is no outfall designed.
Performance • Very little raveling of surface. • No random cracking. • Pavement percolates rapidly. • Limited clogging at the edges.
