Prepositions • The most common relationships that prepositions show are : • Time: after, at, before, during • Location: above, below, next to, within • Direction: toward, through, across • Cause & Effect: because of, instead of, in regard to
Prepositions • Many prepositions consist of more than one word • Words often used in combination are : to, for, from, of • Many preposition words are also words used as adverbs • Prepositions MUST have an object of the preposition

Interjections • Expresses emotion. An interjection has no grammatical relation to the rest of the sentence. • Ex. Ah ha! I found it. • Hey • Ouch • Whew • Wow
Mastering the Parts of Speech • Write a single sentence containing one of each part of speech, label the parts • Ex. Wow! That angry dog quickly ran down the street and he bit the mailman.
