Today’s topic:Our Hebrew Roots

First thing to understand is that our real Hebrew Jewish Roots is in our own bible, not any other book. • There is no need to read any other book to understand who we are supposed to be.

Some interesting points in scripture, maybe you never considered…….

Did you Know? • Did you know Jesus was born in Israel? • Not Texas or Tennessee  • Yeshua is His name in Hebrew and it means "He will save"

Did you Know? • The letter "J "in our alphabet was created about 500 years ago?

Did you Know? • The Gospels and Letters were written in Koine Greek? • The Greek transliteration and sound for the English word “Jesus “ • Ιησους - Iisous pronounced ee-ay-sooce

Did you Know? • Yeshua / Jesus is Jewish?

Did you Know? • Joseph and Mary were Jewish? • Yoseph and Miriam

Did you Know? • The prophets were Jewish?

Did you Know? • The Apostles were Jewish?

Remember: • I am talking about Jews in the Bible, not Jews in Judaism. • Judaism was created about 200 to 400 AD by rabbis. There are “NO” rabbis in the Hebrew Bible. • Yeshua, Jesus is your master!

Some people try to tell you rabbi means teacher, it does not. • In Hebrew, moreh is a male teacher, morah is a female teacher.

The Bible says: Matt.23[8] But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Messiah /Christ; and all ye are brethren. [10] Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Messiah /Christ.

Jesus never said call no man teacher. • Rabbi means master • John 20 [16] Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. • John 1[38] Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

Did you know the word “Christian” appears only three time in scripture? • Acts.11[26] And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

5Acts.26[28] Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.1Pet.4[16] Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

Think of this… • Catholics - 350AD • There were no Protestants before 1500 AD nor at the time of Messiah Yeshua / Jesus. • So what is the true meaning of the word “Christian”?

Let's define some words: Christ and christian • Greek- Christos - Christ - Messiah -מְשִיחַ = Anointed One • The English word “Christian” below really means Messiah followers. • It does not mean Protestant or Catholic. • Messiah followers - מְשִׁיחִי מְשִׁיחִיִּים

Did you know Jesus and all the Apostles did not have a bible like we have today? • Jesus and the apostles read from the TaNaKh -acronym - ( Torah / Teaching, Nevi'im / Prophets and Ketivim / Writings). • You know this as the Old Testament. The TaNaKh was written Hebrew.

Do you Know? • Every word in your bible is valid today. • Scripture does not conflict

Do you Know? • Nothing was changed except those things that Yeshua fulfilled in Scripture • Yeshua fulfilled the Levitical Priesthood and all sacrifices. • All judgment in Torah (which are still valid today) was given to the son (Yeshua) He will judge according to Torah

The New Covenant • What is the New Covenant: • God’s laws would be written in our hearts sealed with the blood of the Messiah – no longer do we need animal sacrifices for sin.

The Law • The word Law (Torah) is often misunderstood when reading the bible. • The law has many parts: commandments, ordinances, judgments, and Levitical priesthood (Sacrifices). • You must read and understand Torah to determine what is being discussed in the Letters. • Torah – first five books in the bible • means teaching, instruction

Law – Levitical sacrifices • Rom.10[ 4] For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. • G5056τελοςtelos tel'-os • From a primary word τελλωtello (to set outfor a definite point or goal); properly the point aimed at as a limit, the result.......... • Christ / Messiah is our GOAL • Levitical Priesthood was the schoolmaster

Gal 3: 24-25 • Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Messiah / Christ, that we might be justified by faith. • But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Other “Ends” (Goals) • 1 Peter 1:9 Receiving the end (goal) of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. • 1 Tim 1:5 Now the end (goal) of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Who was the new covenant given to? • Jer.31[ 31] Behold, the days come, saith Yehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: • (33) But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel ;

Who was the new covenant given to? • Apostle Saul / Paul quotes Jer.31:31 • Heb.8[8] For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saithYehovah, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

A reasonable question: • If the New Covenant was given to the house of Israel, how do I, as a Gentile, partake of the New Covenant?

Always One God for All! • Exod. 12:49 One law shall be to him that is home born, and unto the stranger that sojourns among you. • Lev. 19:34 But the stranger that dwells with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am Yehovah your God.

Num.15[ 16]One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourns with you. • [29] Ye shall have one law for him that sins through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourns among them.

Jas.4[ 12] • There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy:....

In Messiah, there is only ONE body. • Jews and Gentiles all KEEP the same Commandments and Feasts of God. • We are all ONE in Messiah.

All of us need to understand: • Eph.2:[19] • Now therefore ye (Gentiles) are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; • [20] And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Yeshua the Messiah himself being the chief corner stone;

[21] In whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto an holy temple in Yehovah. • [22] In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

We are all “One” in Messiah • Eph.3:6 That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Messiah by] And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. the gospel... • Acts.15[9] And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Rom.3[22] Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: • Rom.10[12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved

Who is the Vine? • Some people say, Israel the vine? NO! • Yeshua/Jesus said He was the vine! • John 15:5 • I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

You are grafted in! • According to Romans 11 you must be grafted among the natural branches (Israel) and into the vine which is Messiah • Rom. 11:17 • And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

Can you now see from scripture that all Jews and Gentiles are to be ONE in Messiah/Christ and all under the same New Covenant? • Gal 3:28 • There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Messiah Yeshua)

Question • Now that you have joined in the Covenant, what are these Laws of God that are supposed to be written on our hearts? • Most Christians that I have asked do not know where the 10 Commandments are written in the bible. • DO YOU?

The Ten Commandments • The Ten Commandments are located in Exodus Chapter 20 and Deuteronomy Chapter 5
