  13. 特殊記事 2005/08 美國聯邦政府將贊助George Mason大學研究員開發的一款原型監聽工具，據說可追蹤網際網路電話的交談雙方。研究員表示，他們的研究計畫旨在協助警方辨認，監控中的嫌犯是否透過網路電話(voice over Internet Protocol；VoIP)互相傳遞訊息。透過VoIP祕密通話，目前無從追蹤起。研究員說，他們的竊聽技術已證明可與Skype搭配。
