  3. Statistics 1966 students have engaged with the face to face support since pilot semester Jan 2013 (launch of MLE Oct 2013)

  4. Statistics Current suite of 61 workshops with more in development Average of 27 workshops per month with a high of 40 in Feb and 30 in March Revision Semester 1: we put on 33 workshops and saw 265 students in less than 3 weeks 25,238 have used our 27 online resources so far (launched Oct 2013) Used for monthly reports; to generate actions and reflect on progress

Feedback 19% of students surveyed respond Student feedback is used as formative in regard to future sessions (Hattie and Timperley,2007) Students play active role in relation their skills training and we can respond to requests within the same semester. Survey feedback gives us clues as to what has been effective and where action needs to be taken (Q/A)

  7. Community The AGLC as a supportive space: refreshments, friends and fun! We encourage collaboration and peer support (e.g. PASS) and build this into the sessions (e.g. proofreading, critical reading). When they ask we respond quickly and we expect engagement and active contribution from them A sense of belonging helps retention and improves social mobility for students from non-traditional backgrounds (Thomas, 2012) Using social media to build ongoing dialogue with students @mlemanchester Role of the student rovers: measuring impact and maintaining dialogue

In summary… The statistics we collect enable us to prove that what we are doing is working The feedback enables the students to play a formative role in the development of new resources The communityof partners makes for a varied programme We aim to foster a community for the students at the heart of the campus that empowers them to take control of their learning experience
