ORGANIZATIONAL MAINTENANCE • Contains first and second echelons of maintenance
FIRST ECHELON • Performed by user or operator • Proper care, use, and operation of equipment • as prescribed by order and directive • Minor repairs, testing, ect
SECOND ECHELON • Work performed by specially trained mechanic or technician • In the organization possessing the capabilities and facilities • Inspect, Diagnosis, and isolation of problems • PMCS, repair and replace, evacuate
INTERMEDIATE MAINTENANCE • Contains third and fourth echelons of maintenance • Within the Service Support Group • In direct support of the organizations • Can authorize selective interchange to themselves
THIRD ECHELON • Authorized by publication • By specially trained mechanics or technicians • Removal and replacement of modular components (?) • Can be accomplished via contact teams • Evacuation to fourth echelon
FOURTH ECHELON • Repair/rebuild of sub-assemblies, assemblies, and major items • Diagnosis and isolation of malfunctions to the internal piece part level • At a semi-fixed facility
FIFTH ECHELON • Complete rebuild or overhaul • Repair items which exceed the capabilities of the units • Nondestructive test on items • Special inspections and modifications
