Before this event occurred, it would take two weeks or longer to ship a package 639 miles. During the revolution, it would take about a week to ship the same distance.
This increase in transportation occurred because of the invention of the steam engine. Video

Turnpikes • The Lancaster-Philadelphia Turnpike was built in 1795. Later in the revolution, when cars were being built, this turnpike became extremely popular.
Steamboats Robert Fulton- American engineer who developed the first commercially successful steamboat. His most famous model was called the Clermont.
The Transportation Revolution occurred in conjunction with the Industrial Revolution.
