  5. CTECS Role in Assessment • Validate the assessment processes to ensure face and content validity and reliability. • Deliver the assessments online. • Provide technical assistance and professional development to maintain and improve the system.

Arizona • Statewide Deployment • 40,000+ Completers (’07-’11) • 2009 Scores were 10-15 points higher in all program areas than Fall 2008 scores • Spring ’10 • 49 assessments offered • Approximately 17,000 secondary students assessed • Community colleges now coming on board • Certificate and Transcription Distribution – Spring 2010

  10. Kentucky • Provided initial design for State Assessment System • Reviewed and Validated 18 Program Areas to Fast-Track Assessment Blueprints in June, 2010 • Assisting in Technical Assessments • Foundations of Energy Program • 21 Program Areas (Assessments) Available

  11. Oregon • Standards and Assessments Development in Regional Education Districts(6 Regions) • 18 program areas using E-SESS • Regions similar to a county • 1400+ students tested • Results shown by ESD

South Carolina • CTECS did Assessment Review, Update and Development in six program areas • Spring 2010 Assessments for statewide completers in E-SESS Testing System: • Welding with Performance Component • Construction and Building Trades • Accounting • Accounting II • General Management and Entrepreneurship

  13. Virginia • CTECS developed the Workplace Readiness Skills Test (WRS) for the Commonwealth of Virginia • CTECS is serving as the Statewide Test Provider for the WRS Assessment (piloting now) • Full Statewide Implementation in April of 2010

  14. Georgia • CTECS is Working with the Technical College System of Georgia to Develop and Pilot End of Course Assessments for Six Technical Areas that can be Used for Articulated Credit. • As a Longer Term Outcome TCSG Staff will Assume the Process Over Time.

  15. FBLA Reviewing and Enhancing the FBLA-PBL Competitive Events Competency Lists and Item Banks • 30 Areas for FBLA (Secondary) • 37 Areas for PBL (Post Secondary)

  16. Next Frontier: Nevada • Conduct Needs Assessment of Existing Priority Standards • Provide Summative Report • Assemble Nevada Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) with CTECS Guidance • Facilitate Standards Validation with TAC • Develop Assessments for Selected Areas

  17. In Summary We Can Help You by: • Advising on how to set up an assessment center/system. • Conducting the standards setting and assessment development processes. • Assisting in determining priorities and linking existing standards to the appropriate areas.

In Summary We Can Help You by: • Locating, developing, and validating standards, item banks, and assessments based on a gap analysis • Conducting on-site standards setting, item writing, and technical committee review and validation sessions. • Training and assisting with field testing related to assessment construction and administration.

  19. In Summary We Can Help You By: • Providing access to a web-based assessment delivery system using ESESS. • Analyzing assessment results and providing feedback based item analysis and assessment reports. • Serving as a central resource collector and provider.
