  1. AQTF and Continued Professional Practice Celebrating

  2. Continued Professional Practice Enables staff to: • demonstrate currency • possibly demonstrate equiv competency • continue to develop skills and knowledge related to VET, training and assessment and industry currency Meet AQTF requirements

  3. AQTF 2010 Training and assessment services are conducted by trainers and assessors who: a)have the necessary training and assessment competencies as determined by the National Quality Council or its successors, AND b) have the relevant vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered or assessed, AND

  4. AQTF 2010 Training and assessment services are conducted by trainers and assessors who: c) can demonstrate current industry skills directly relevant to the training/assessment being undertaken, AND d) continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence

  5. National Quality Council (NQC) • “it is not the NQC’s intention to require trainers and assessors to upgrade their formal qualifications if they are able to demonstrate they have gained the required competencies through continued professional practice”

  6. Continued Professional Practice • “Continued professional practice” may assist staff with a previous version of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to demonstrate equivalent competencies • must be a clear and verified relationship between trainer/assessor experience and learning and units /modules • documented process developed supported by relevant records

  7. Example of Continued Professional Practice - may include • Recent engagement with industry or professional association AND • Professional development activities related to teaching and learning and VET environment AND • Regular and current delivery of training

  8. How will you gather valuable information about continued professional practice in a time effective manner??

Workforce Development New Initiatives • Educational Edge program – teacher development program targeting critical areas of trainer and assessor competency and VET • Participants receive an e-portfolio to record learning achievements, experience and currency. Templates related to Certificate IV / Diploma in Training and Assessment and AQTF requirements

  10. AQTF 2010 Requirements for Trainers and Assessors (current) In addition to training and assessment competencies determined by NQC • demonstrate current industry skills relevant to training and assessment undertaking and • continue to develop trainer and assessor competencies, VET knowledge and skills, and industry currency

  11. By 17 June 2012 According to the National Quality Council • training and assessment will be delivered by trainers /assessors who have the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 or • demonstrated equivalent competencies or • work under direct supervision (training)
