2007 CEN Prep Plan and Report Rob Worrell-R/C Regional Coach
CEN Project Goals: • Recruit the best CEN coaches • Utilize CEN teams for selection • Provide an excellent training environment: terrain, snow surface and high caliber athletes. • Identify, develop, and follow a strategy that will address our athlete’s technical/tactical deficiencies. • Develop stronger technical habits daily. Strive for technical excellence/proficiency. • Implement a skill progression: Introduce, practice and review skills daily.
Identified technical/ tactical deficiencies: • Terrain: technical and tactical adjustments. Speed Maintenance! • Boot alignment, coaches being able to identify alignment issues. • Looking ahead • Basic Parallel • Pole plant • Turn shape • Ankle flexion, hips, forward top of turn.
Strategy or drills to improve these deficiencies: • Terrain: timing splits before and after terrain feature where different tactical/technical strategies are performed with timing feedback. • Boot alignment: coaches education where the coach learns to identify technical errors caused by misaligned boots thus eliminating any equipment factors first. • Looking ahead: learning different eye patterns at slow speeds, tape on goggles, visual acuity drills, a-rhythmical courses. • Basic parallel position: parallel bar, vertical bar, no poles skiing, prayer position. • Pole plant: more challenging terrain and tighter course sets. • Ankle flexion, hips forward top of turn: ankle flexors, boots unbuckled, carving leapers, tighter courses with lots of offset, rough terrain.
Video Analysis of Identified Deficiencies • Weight Transfer Drills: Weight transfer traverse, traverse to basic parallel, quick re-centering drill (anti-White Pass) • Basic Parallel Position Drills: Vertical parallel bar, horizontal parallel bar. • Transitions • Turn shape • Boot alignment • Ankle flexion, hips forward top of turn
