Ancient Egypt. By Kyle _ _ _ _ _. Pyramids. Ancient Egyptians buried their kings and queens in large tombs filled with treasure. The largest of these tombs were called pyramids. Egyptians spent their lives preparing for the afterlife. This is what they called the time after they died.

Pyramids • Ancient Egyptians buried their kings and queens in large tombs filled with treasure. • The largest of these tombs were called pyramids.
Egyptians spent their lives preparing for the afterlife. This is what they called the time after they died. • They worshipped many gods and goddesses. This religion is known as polytheism.
Mummification • The kings were preserved by a process called mummification. • During this process all of their organs were removed and blood was drained from the body. • They were then wrapped in cloth strips.
After they were mummified the kings were placed into large coffins. • One of these coffins was called a sarcophagus.
After they were placed in a sarcophagus, the kings were placed into pyramids or other large underground tombs.
