  2. Basic Terms • Metric • Edition • Term • All terms, definitions, policies, and prices are subject to change per Larry.

  3. Metric • Named User Plus (NUP) • Used in environments where users can be identified and counted. • 25 NUP minimum per processor for Enterprise Edition Database • 10 NUP minimum per proc for Enterprise Edition Fusion Middleware or Standard Edition Database • 5 NUP minimum per proc for SE1 Fusion Middleware or Database • Processor • Used in environments where users cannot be easily identified and counted. • … OR when it is more cost effective than the Named User Plus Metric • For example, I’m using a 4 processor box to support an application that has 400 users. In this case, even though I know there are 400 users, it would be cheaper to buy 4 processors of Oracle instead of 400 Named User Plus.

  4. Edition - Database • Enterprise Edition • $40,000 List/Processor or $800 List/NUP* • Additional options priced separately: • RAC (Real Application Clusters) • Partitioning • OLAP • Express Server • Data Mining • Spatial • Advanced Security • Label Security • Enterprise Management Packs (OEM/Grid Control Extensions) • Diagnostics Pack • Tuning Pack • Change Management Pack • Configuration Management Pack

Available on OTN. • Standard Edition One • $5,000/processor or $149/NUP • Same as Standard Edition technically with a 2 processor limit.

  6. Edition - Database • This just in…. Mulitcore Chips • Servers that utilize dual-core processors are now priced at 75% of the list processor or Named User price. • Therefore list price per processor is $30k for EE or $600/NUP • Exception: For Standard Edition One and Standard Edition programs, on servers with a maximum of 1 processor with 1 or 2 cores, only 1 processor shall be counted. The named user plus minimums are unchanged.
