    3. 2 2006 is the eighth consecutive year ETR has received an emergency award from EEI. We are the only utility in the nation to have received either EEI’s Emergency Assistance Award or Emergency Response Award every year such award has been offered. In 2006, we received the Emergency Response Award after tropical storm Cindy and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.     4. 3 Hurricane Katrina’s Impact - Power Outages- August 29: HK Made Its Second Landfall as Strong Category 4 Overall facts An unprecedented 1.1 million homes and business were without power at peak period. Louisiana – 800,000 Louisiana customers out. Mississippi - Over 300,000 Mississippi customers out Entire customer base of our New Orleans subsidiary evacuated from New Orleans August 29: HK Made Its Second Landfall as Strong Category 4 Overall facts An unprecedented 1.1 million homes and business were without power at peak period.     5. 4 Hurricane Katrina’s Impact - Destruction & Flooding- Katrina affected 37,000 square miles, roughly 1/3 of Entergy’s service territory. 3,000 miles of transmission lines and 30,000 miles of distribution lines damaged. 263 substations knocked out. 181 transmission lines and 1,560 feeders out. Many generation plants flooded. Eight refineries out. Over 50% of all New Orleans households had over 4 feet of flood water. Of the 38,000 properties in New Orleans on the National Historic register, approximately 25,000 were damaged. 350,000 customers out in New Orleans area, half inaccessible from water.
