  3. Children bring food into school for harvest People need food all year round, not just at harvest time. The best food that people can bring is food that will last a long time – food that comes in tins, packets or jars. Fresh food may spoil before it can be given out. Company Limited by Guarantee.   7. The food is checked for freshness All food has a ‘best before’ or ‘use by’ date on it, to tell us when we should eat the food.   10. The food is given away We give food to anyone in Birmingham who needs it. They might be homeless, refugees, families who don’t have much money or people who don’t have jobs.   16. It will always help us if the food you donate is in tins, packets or jars. We can’t always sort and give out fresh food quickly enough.
